Since 1977 the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield has been the home of the 17 day marathon that is the Snooker World Championship. It is a marvellous venue for the event and there have been many great matches there over the years. Photographers have a little enclosed box to shoot from - one per table - which can get quite 'fruity' if a frame goes on for a long time.
The World Championship and most other major events are managed by World Snooker Tour under the auspices of the World Professional Snooker and Billiards Association who are the governing body. The WPBSA and the WDBS and WWS put on a number of events across the country throughout the year and I have also been lucky enough to have worked for the World Snooker Federation on a couple of occasions, covering their main worldwide tournament in Malta.
